GO
If you are interested in
going as a volunteer to an African orphanage, please contact the National
Day of Care. We can also provide information on other international
and domestic volunteer opportunities.
*The following are specific ideas and ways you can help children who are
orphans:
- Sponsor a child - For the price of a cup of coffee each day you can
provide basic necessities to a child.
- Organize a Sock Hop - As admission to the event ask everyone to bring
a new bag of socks to be sent to an orphanage.
- Collect School Supplies - Ask students in your school to fill some
boxes with school supplies.
- Be an advocate - Talk to your church, civic groups, and other
organizations in your community about getting involved.
- Fill a Birthday box - Fill a box with items such as balloons,
streamers, confetti, candles, cake mixes, and icing to be sent for
birthday parties.
- Write them - Correspond with an orphan child on a regular basis
and send them pictures of you and your family.
- Host a Baby Shower - Have a baby shower for orphans asking guests
to bring items like diapers, blankets, and new baby clothes.
- Organize a Volunteer trip - Organize volunteers in your church or
community to do a construction project at an orphanage.
- Support a Relief Organization - Give regularly to a relief
organization who assists children who are orphans.

plight of orphans.
